Are people losing interest in Spence Jr vs Bud Crawford?

ARE PEOPLE LOSING INTEREST IN SPENCE JR vs BUD CRAWFORD?

Biggest fight in boxing 🥊

In boxing today there is no bigger fight than a clash between the Top 2 Welterweight contenders in the world. Two men Top 5 in most respectable P4P lists. Both undefeated in their respective campaigns, both leaving behind a trail of corpses. We’re talking about Errol Spence Jr vs Terence Crawford of course!

Boxing has a big problem of having multiple “Champions” simultaneously, so a unification match is a very big deal. This year alone we’ve seen Devin Haney and Jermell Charlo become undisputed king of their divisions earning the right to be called Champion. Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford hope to follow suit and become The Champion at one of boxing’s most prestigious divisions.

CLAIM TO THE THRONE – ERROL SPENCE JR

Spence Jr

#1 contender Errol Spence Jr 28-0 (22) is now 32 years of age with an impressive record including multiple key victories. This impressive list of “man down” includes Kell Brook, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and most recently Yordenis Ugas. Along the way Spence Jr has picked up the WBC, WBA and IBF titles. Simply put Errol Spence Jr has not found his welterweight equal yet.

CLAIM TO THE THRONE – TERENCE CRAWFORD

#2 contender Terence Crawford is 38-0 (29) now 34 years of age with an impressive record few can match up against. Unlike Errol Spence Jr, Crawford has reached the pinnacle of the sport having become Champion at Jr. Welterweight unifying the titles against Julius Indongo. Terence Crawford also has victories over Yuriorkis Gamboa, Egidijus Kavaliauska, Kell Brook and most recently Shawn Porter. Bud Crawford has won his last 9 fights inside the distance!

WHAT’S THE HOLDUP?

This fight has been brewing for what seems like an eternity now with various things holding it back. Errol Spence Jr said that he would pursue unifying the WBC, WBA, IBF belts before fighting Crawford. Now after collecting the final piece against Yordenis Ugas the belts are in the hands of just two men! So what’s holding the fight up now? Well, reports have it that Terence Crawford wants a 50/50 purse split to fight for this unification bout. While Spence Jr and his team believe that Errol is the A side, having done the heavy lifting, so he deserves the lion’s share of the revenue. As a fan I want to say just agree to 50/50, but from a business perspective and who has put in more work it appears Spence Jr has a solid case. Some have suggested a 60/40 split, while others think they should split 45/45 with the winner picking up the other 10 percent. Negotiations have been on going with fans now impatiently waiting for a fight announcement. The question now beckons; Are people losing interest in Errol Spence Jr vs Terence Crawford? I believe the answer is NO. Despite numerous big fights announced (Canelo/GGG, Usyk/Joshua 2) fans have remained uber focused on Spence vs Crawford. Social media is always buzzing at any news surrounding the fight and while some seem to be annoyed at the delay, they are still talking about the fight! So, regardless of whether you’re team Spence or team Crawford one thing is for certain when those two titans meet in the ring it’ll be for all the marbles, it’ll be for bragging rights, it’ll be bull against bull, shark against shark, elite vs elite. And when the dust settles the world will finally know who’s the BIG FISH in the Welterweight division!

IS CANELO STILL HUNGRY?

IS CANELO STILL HUNGRY?

By AnaLiBox

After watching Canelo lose to Dmitry Bivol this past May, we have to ask – Is Canelo still Hungry?
Even though Canelo was not knocked out during the above mentioned fight, and even though Canelo used good defensive boxing skills, Dmitry showed that he could keep Canelo at bay by controlling the fight with his constant Jabs and showing no weakness when it came to Canelo’s “Power Punches”. Some weeks ago, Canelo confessed what was obvious to all of us watching him struggle that night against Bivol: “I got tired” said Canelo, while being interviewed during a Promotion Press Conference for his upcoming Trilogy Fight with GGG. Many have speculated as of “why?” Canelo could not defeat Bivol, with theories ranging from “Canelo was too small for the 175 lbs Fight” or “Canelo was maybe sick or had personal problems while facing Bivol”. One thing is certain, Canelo looked exhausted and confused when Dmitry showed no signs of being affected by the so-called “Punches to the Arm” made now famous by Canelo.

This is what leads us to the question – Is Canelo still hungry for glory? Or has his career transformed into a routine of “let’s make the easiest fight possible with the most money gained possible”. In short words, the hunger is still there, but in the wrong area, being hungry for money instead of being hungry for greatness and legacy. Canelo will soon reach his final years as a boxer, and as he gets closer to his 40 years of age, losses are likely to happen more often. I wouldn’t be surprised if in his next fight against GGG he takes another loss, not due to his ability or experience as a boxer, but due to his lack of hunger in the sport of boxing. Is also no secret that he spends an equal amount of time at the golf course as he does at the boxing gym, training under Eddy Reynoso, but so far we haven’t seen Eddy playing golf along with Canelo at the Del Mar Golf center in Southern California. On the contrary, Canelo seems to take time away from Eddy and the “Canelo Team” to join a different community of people for around 4 hours a day, every single day, according to what Canelo himself has admitted, “he needs” to practice golf daily in order to relax his mind, he claims. Another thing to note, if we pay attention to Canelo’s instagram posts in recent days and weeks, we notice that the main topic of his stories is Golf, reason to believe that his interests are shifting rapidly into another sport which is definitely not boxing; to the point of him wearing his own branded clothes under the motto “No Golf, No Life”. This is a clear message to all of us boxing fans, Canelo would not consider himself living if he doesn’t have Golf as part of his daily routine; this alone should be a “warning” sign for Eddy Reynoso and his team, and a call to action for every possible boxing rival that would like to face Canelo, from Charlo to Errol Spence Jr, if there is a perfect time to beat canelo then it is now as it appears that Canelo’s hunger is focused outside of the ring.

BOXING’S NEXT WAVE OF SUPERSTARS Part 1

BOXING’S NEXT WAVE OF SUPERSTARS Part 1

All sports are dependent on two things; fan support and fresh young talent! Without new talent all sports would die and fans would be left to read newspapers for actual news 😱. Luckily all sports get infused with new talent and boxing is no exception. Few things are as exciting as watching a brand new boxing prospect, fresh off the oven. With all the promise, all the potential. Some make it all the way to Champions and superstars and some well, they break your heart. Here’s a list we put together of some young boxing talent that promise to reach the highest levels of the sport.

Ennis knockouts Clayton.

Jaron Ennis is a 25 years old Welterweight with a record of 29-0 (27). Ennis is like a unicorn a mystical creature that comes once in a lifetime. With a dazzling mix of speed, power, ring IQ and agility, Jaron Ennis has mesmerized fans with his boxing mastery and has not shown any significant weaknesses in his game. A highly avoided fighter Ennis has now gotten some momentum with impressive KO victories over veterans Sergey Lipinets in the 6th round, Thomas Dulorme in the 1st round and recently Custio Clayton in the 2nd round. The pride of Philadelphia Jaron Ennis is knocking on the door of a title shot and is looking to face the winner of the much anticipated fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford. We at PBMTV believe that Ennis will be Champion and P4P mainstay one day, it’s just a matter of opportunity. RATING: B+

Stevenson destroys Valdez.

Shakur Stevenson is a 25 years old Jr.Lightweight with a record of 18-0 (9). Stevenson is a uber special talent with superb speed, athleticism, high level ring IQ, elite defense and a strong will to be the best. If there is an area where Shakur lacks is in the power department, although if you ask Jamel Herring and Oscar Valdez whom Shakur left with bruised faces, they’ll probably tell you Stevenson hits hard enough.  The young Stevenson already has a solid resume with victories over Joet González (UD12), Jeremia Nakathila (UD12), Jamel Herring (TKO10), and Oscar Valdez (UD12). Shakur is ranked #8 on PBMTV P4P List. With no shortage of challenges and strong promoter Bob Arum backing him it appears the sky is the limit for Shakur. A true superstar in the making we at PBMTV believe Shakur will be Champion and P4P mainstay. RATING: A

Haney runs through Gamboa.

Devin Haney is a 23 years old Lightweight with a record of 28-0 (15). Starting his career as a teenager in Mexico, Haney has been dropping fans jaws for years now. Speed, athleticism, pure boxing skills, Haney has it all. Although much like Shakur Stevenson as the level of competition has risen his KO ratio has dropped. But a lack of one punch KO power does not mean Devin Haney lacks power, it means he has more of a accumulative damage type of power. Nevertheless, Haney has been superb beating everybody they have put in front of him with victories over Yuriorkis Gamboa (UD12), Jorge Linares (UD12), Joseph Diaz (UD12) and most recently Devin Haney travelled to Australia to defeat George Kambosos Jr (UD12). With the victory over Kambosos Jr, Haney became the first undisputed lightweight champion of any kind since the late, great Pernell Whitaker fully unified the WBA/WBC/IBF belts in 1990 via a first-round knockout of Juan Nazario. That’s impressive! Devin Haney is #9 on PBMTV’s P4P list. Already World Champion Devin Haney is on his way to superstardom and potential super fights with Gervonta Davis and Vasily Lomachenko can turn Haney into a PPV Star. RATING: A+

Teofimo beats Lomachenko.

Teofimo López is a 24 years old Jr. Welterweight with a record of 16-1 (12). López arrived at the scene with KO win after KO win punctuated with his signature Fort Night celebratory dance. It was quickly evident that Teofimo was not your typical boxer, he was special. With a mix of boxing technique, agility and one punch KO power, López has a style that can best be described as ‘Power-Boxing’. Teofimo has victories over Masayoshi Nakatani (UD12), Richard Commey (TKO2) and Vasyl Lomachenko (UD12). With his victory over Lomachenko in 2020 López became World Champion reaching the top of the sport in only 16 fights. Teofimo López would suffer a setback as he lost the Championship to George Kambosos Jr in what has been his worse performance to date. Now after taking time off to heal and moving up to 140lbs Teofimo looks to recapture the magic that made him must see TV. PBMTV believes Teofimo Lopez will be Champion once again and can become a household name and PPV star. RATING: B+
