REY VARGAS BRINGS FIGHT TO MAGSAYO

And the new!….In a battle of undefeated fighters Rey Vargas put on a tremendous display of power boxing to wrestle the WBC strap from Mark Magsayo. In front of a Mexican dominant crowd Rey Vargas established the rhythm early in the fight, using his longer reach to keep Magsayo on the outside. Mark Magsayo, who won the WBC title via controversial decision over Gary Russell Jr, was very one dimensional and limited in his attacks. Magsayo did land occasional heavy bombs, specially late in the 9th round when he dropped Vargas. Mark Magsayo was unable to finish Vargas, the moment passed and Vargas went back to peppering Magsayo with heavy body blows and beautiful combinations. With the victory Rey Vargas is now 36-0 (22) and Mark Magsayo falls to 24-1 (16). The featherweight division features plenty of good fights for the new WBC title holder with potential unification matchups against fellow Mexicans Emanuel Navarrete (WBO) Leo Santa Cruz (WBA) as well as Josh Warrington (IBF).
